Cancer Cytopathology
Newswire |
Dear Colleague,
Happy New Year!
This month we are pleased to publish
our first-ever January issue of Cancer Cytopathology,
which heralds our increase from 6 to 12 issues annually! With
more issues and more pages, we've also undertaken the
development of new content that will bring more variety to
every issue and practical and useful information for your
practice. In 2013, CytoSource, our news and views section
headed up by Dr. Terence Colgan, will alternate with two new
solicited sections: Clinician's Corner and Cytopathology Help
Desk.
|
|
|
Clinician's
Corner, premiering in this issue and edited by Dr.
Martha Bishop Pitman, is designed as a brief commentary
by a clinician whose practice includes specific
management decisions based on cytologic diagnoses. As
cytopathologists, we can, and should, be integral
partners in patient care; the Corner will highlight
these opportunities.
Premiering in the March
issue, Cytopathology Help Desk, edited by Dr. Gladwyn
Leiman, is designed to provide insights and answers to
current questions and controversies by experts in our
discipline. |
Concurrent with our strategic plan to deliver monthly
issues of Cancer Cytopathology with added content and
new features was the need to restructure the Editorial Board
to realize the journal's strategic vision. The Editorial
Review Board will continue to be comprised of expert and
diligent reviewers whose major responsibility is to ensure
that the manuscripts are thoroughly reviewed in a timely
fashion. Members of the newly configured Editorial Advisory
Board, through their deeper engagement in the vision and
mission of the journal, will help us remain dynamic and
focused on the future. Cancer Cytopathology will
continue to remain preeminent in the field thanks to their
contributions and the efforts of all of our reviewers and
board members.
I also want to take this opportunity to
thank you, our readers and contributors, for helping us to
achieve our goal of being the top journal in the field of
cytopathology. We measure our success by many different
metrics, but of course one of these remains the impact factor,
which reached an all-time high this year of 3.333.
 |
As always, we encourage input from our readership,
especially as we continue to develop and present new content.
Please contact any of our editors with ideas and questions you
may want us to address in the future. The Associate Editors
and I will work diligently to continue our aspiration not only
to publish cutting edge research in cytopathology but to
anticipate what you, our readers, need to advance your
cytopathology practice.
Sincerely,
 Celeste N. Powers, MD,
PhD Editor-in-Chief, Cancer
Cytopathology |
