Special Issue on Advances in River Ice Science
This special issue highlights some recent developments in River Ice Science, the multidisciplinary field of research focusing on the development of a comprehensive understanding of the dynamics and interactions between the physical, climatic and ecological components of rivers exposed to ice processes.
The papers in this special issue illustrate the complexity of current research on nutrient fluxes on different scales. In the early 1990’s Horst Behrendt created the model MONERIS to calculate nutrient emissions into surface waters, in-stream retention and resulting loads. This issue is dedicated to his memory.
